A whirlwind of emotion, imagination, and dramatic action. The brothers walk on stilts; dive bomb through town on sleds; and don batwings on the roof of their house. The story gains dramatic momentum as it builds to its inevitable climax, the discovery of flight. Steeped in research, the play holds true to history while telling the story of the Wright brothers in an imaginative and insightful way. A tale of two poor uneducated men who changed the world—Flight challenges us as much as it inspires us.
Arthur Giron, Playwright
Arthur has been acclaimed as one of "the most thoughtful writers of our time" and "one of our best contemporary darmatists." He has received honors such as an Emmy nomination, the LA Dramalogue Award for Becoming Memories and the Galileo prize for playwrighting for Emilie's Voltaire. He co-founded the Ensemble Studio Theatre. He has served on the board of Theatre of Latin America and the New Harmony Project. He was also honored by Pope John Paul II for writing the play Edith Stein.
Dr. Marion Castleberry, Head of Directing Program
Marion Castleberry is the head of Graduate Theatre Studies at Baylor University. He has worked professionally as an actor, director, dramaturge,and voice and movement coach in one hundred and fifty productions. He produced three of the new works developed for EST's OctoberFEST. He founded the Horton Foote American Playwrights Festival. And, He collaborated with Mr. Foote on the book Horton Foote: Genesis of an American Playwright. Most recently, He directed The Traveling Lady at Ensemble Studio Theatre which received a Drama Desk nomination for Outstanding Revival of a Play.
